This past weekend I ended up falling asleep and missing my son’s football game. I was pretty upset about it because, well, I don’t EVER miss his games.
Oh yes. I’m that crazy mom on the bleachers screaming and cheering. He has grown quite accustomed to me and probably will forever remember me being on the sidelines getting mad that the linemen on the opposing team were talking trash to my baby.
If you head over to cmefootball.com, you will see that my son is far from being a baby. However, he is my son. In my eyes, he will forever be my small boy.
My husband stepped right up in my absence and took some amazing pictures of Ceasar. The next day, he emailed me the pictures and I could not be any more impressed with his work. It was as if I was right there alongside him, watching the entire game.
Later on that night, I was reading a book when he came out of the shower. My husband, when he washes, takes his phone in the bathroom and blasts music while scrubbing his 2000 parts. There may or may not be some singing. I cannot either confirm or deny this.
On this particular night, when he came out of the bathroom, he saw me sitting on the coach with my book. He turned down his music and came over to give me a kiss on my forehead. “Enjoy your book honey.” He said.
It’s this type of consideration that makes me fall deeper in love with this man after so many years together. It’s also these actions that really make me extremely grateful to have him in my life.
It’s funny how these small acts of kindness can really go unnoticed when we are living them everyday. The moment that they are no longer there they are truly missed. Which is why we should have enough insight to recognize these moments and be present in them.
Recently my husband made a huge leap in his career. He decided to build a business in video and media production. I could not be any more prouder than I am now of him. Although the journey may be a little scary, I have total confidence that he will succeed. I could not be any more grateful that I am by his side as he embarks on this new chapter in his life.
Thank you Andre for making my life a little brighter and guiding me back to you and our family when I felt lost, alone, and scared. You are an amazing man. From making sure that I don’t miss the highlights of my son’s game with your talent, to providing a foundation from which our family can build- you never cease to surprise me.
I am proud to carry your last name. I hope I make you proud to be my husband, just as you have made me proud to be your wife.
I love you every day, and every year a little more. Thank you.
